Together we transform

Forest School Project

MELILEA FOUNDATION is a non-profit organisation established in 2022 to support child growth and community development through education, compassion, and community-based action. Rooted in a culture of love, gratitude, and hope, we focus on empowering socially disadvantaged children and helping communities build a stronger, more peaceful future.

Forest School Project 2023: Building a Better Future for Orang Asli Children

In the Orang Asli communities of Pahang (Pekan and Rompin), many families face severe poverty, and village locations—often within plantations or at the edge of towns—make access to stable education even more challenging. Large-scale deforestation has also disrupted traditional livelihoods, increasing long-term vulnerability for children and their families.

Together with Global Peace Foundation Malaysia, MELILEA FOUNDATION is creating a better learning model for Orang Asli children by:

  • Providing a more suitable place for children from different villages to learn together
  • Training qualified teachers with structured, high-quality learning materials
  • Designing lessons that are engaging, practical, and enjoyable for children
  • Using a “forest school” approach—outdoor, holistic, and learner-led—to build confidence, self-esteem, and real-life skills

A forest school is more than a classroom in nature. It is an education process that nurtures the whole child—mind, character, and resilience—through exploration, community, and meaningful learning experiences.

What we aim to achieve

Through this project, we aim to:

  • Provide quality learning opportunities for Orang Asli children, including pre-school children and those who have dropped out of school
  • Strengthen literacy in Bahasa Malaysia and build foundations in Mathematics
  • Develop soft skills and life skills that support long-term growth and independence
  • Offer nature-based learning that supports holistic development

MELILEA FOUNDATION believes every child deserves access to education, dignity, and the chance to transform their future. Through the Forest School Project, we are taking action—together—to help build a better tomorrow.
